Fast Redox Kinetics in SrCo<sub>1?x</sub>Sb<sub>x</sub>O<sub>3??</sub>Perovskites for Thermochemical Energy Storage

The use of perovskite materials for thermochemical energy storage and oxygen separation has been gaining momentum in recent years due to their ability topotactically exchange large volumes oxygen, chemical structural flexibility. B-site substituted SrCoO 3- ? derivatives have previously investigated as promising intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cell cathodes the stabilization a 3 C structure with high electronic ionic conductivity that allows capabilities. Here, antimony-substituted strontium cobalt oxides are identified new candidate applications. In this work we shed light on exceptional redox kinetics cyclability variants undergoing at temperatures (500 800 °C). Through density functional theory isothermal gas atmosphere switching, demonstrate how inductive effect more electronegative antimony dopants Co position, facilitates metal oxidation, whilst hindering reduction reactions. SrCo 0.95 Sb 0.05 O 3? was isothermally evolve 3.76 cm g ?1 500 °C calculated produce up 10.44 under temperature-swing reaction configurations aligning reported materials.
